• EZ Ride Honors Township of Maplewood at 2026 Annual Recognition Event (TAPinto.net) — Maplewood is being honored with a Silver Award in New Jersey's Safe Routes to School program, recognizing the township's long-term push for safer walking and biking for students. Four Maplewood elementary schools will also receive Gold Awards for their work reducing traffic, improving safety, and encouraging healthy, active commutes for local kids.
   

• After Repairs to Water Main Break, Columbia High School to Reopen on Wednesday (villagegreennj.com) — Columbia High School in the South Orange-Maplewood district will reopen on Wednesday, October 7, after a water main break forced a two-day closure. District officials say repairs are complete and water service restored, and they're thanking Maplewood and South Orange families for their patience during the disruption.
   

• Still About Peace: Ethical Culture Society Continues its Mission with Rededication as World's First Peace Site (villagegreennj.com) — Maplewood residents may be interested that Deputy Mayor Malia Herman joined local peace activist Paul Surovell at the Ethical Culture Society's rededication of its long-standing Peace Site. Speakers reflected on Maplewood-South Orange's historic nuclear-freeze activism and unveiled a new "Be About Peace" plaque, with organizers promising more public programs on nuclear risks and preventing war in the coming year.
