Six Candidates To Vie For 3 Seats On South Orange-Maplewood School Board
You'll get a choice of six candidates on Nov. 8 for three spots on the South Orange-Maplewood Board of Education.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Six community members have filed to run for three seats on the South Orange-Maplewood Board of Education, including one incumbent running for re-election.
Johanna Wright will run again for a three-year term on the nine-member board.
According to the Essex County clerk's office, the other five candidates are: Regina Eckert of Maplewood, William Gifford III of Maplewood, William Meyer of South Orange, Ritu Pancholy of South Orange, and Nubia DuVall-Wilson of South Orange.

Voters can choose any three on Nov. 8.

Each year, three members' three-year terms come up for election to the nine-member board.
The board will vote on budget items, policy, and personnel related to the district public schools and related programs.
In past years, board members have dealt with sometimes hotly debated issues such as when to reopen schools during the COVID pandemic, and how to make the district more inclusive.
The positions are unpaid.
