Son Arrested After Domestic Dispute With Mother: Maplewood Police

The Maplewood Police received a call Tuesday morning about an injured woman, who was taken to the hospital. Her son was in custody Tuesday.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — A man was arrested in Maplewood Tuesday morning after a domestic dispute involving his mother, Maplewood police said.

Police said that they received a 911 call from a good Samaritan about 7:45 a.m. Tuesday saying a woman was injured on the 1600 block of Springfield Avenue.

Police arrived to find a 50-year-old woman with multiple injuries. She was immediately taken to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment, police said.

"Officers determined that this was a domestic violence incident between mother and son," police said.

A police spokesperson said the son was in custody but the charges had not been determined yet. Patch will update the story when more information is received.

Although police were called about that incident 40 minutes after another incident in the area at 7:05 a.m. — in which a woman was found stabbed in a house that was on fire — the two incidents were unrelated, police said.

Police said that in both incidents, there is no danger to the general public.
