Town Hall Meeting In Essex County Will Discuss Progressive Politics In Trump Era
Speakers include Maplewood and South Orange residents, as well as N.J. assemblywoman Mila Jasey, organizers say.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Essex County citizen advocacy group SOMA Action – which includes residents of Maplewood, South Orange and the surrounding communities – will hold a public, town hall-style meeting, “From Town Hall to the Halls of Congress: Effective Advocacy in the Trump Era,” at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, at Morrow Memorial Church, 600 Ridgewood Avenue in Maplewood.
According to a news release from organizers, the program seeks to “give citizens and all U.S. persons a better understanding of the scope of power at every level of our government from our local towns to the county and state level, so they can effectively advocate for progressive political change.”
“We know that many in our community are deeply concerned about the Trump administration,” said George Finlay, one of the panel’s organizers. “We want people to know who their elected officials are, and to understand how to reach and engage with them. Our community should feel knowledgeable about who is representing them and the key role they must play in pushing for a progressive future.”
