2 Trapped In Marlboro Car Accident Sunday, 1 Medivaced to Hospital

A Freehold man had to be extricated from the car and medivaced to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Sunday afternoon.

MARLBORO TOWNSHIP, NJ - One person was seriously injured and both were trapped inside their car after the vehicle became airborne and slammed into a tree Sunday afternoon in Marlboro Township.

The accident happened on Ryan Road in Marlboro: At approximately 4:24 p.m. the Marlboro Township Police Department responded to Ryan Road for a motor vehicle accident. A 2001 black Jeep Cherokee that was traveling east on Ryan Road left the roadway in the area of Cross Ridge Circle and hit a tree, trapping the occupants inside of the vehicle.

The driver, Yoshio Dominguez Romero, 23, of Freehold, had to be extricated out of the vehicle and was transported by medivac helicopter to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick. The front seat passenger, Faustino Mendez-Romero, 49, of Freehold was transported by Marlboro First Aid Squad to Centra State Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the accident is under investigation. It is unknown why the vehicle left the road at this time, police said.

Ryan Road was closed for approximately three hours while the accident was being investigated. The North Star Medivac helicopter was provided by the New Jersey State Police. The motor vehicle accident is being investigated by Cpl. Brandon Stacey of the Marlboro Township police.
