Collier Youth Services Raises over $86,000 at their 23rd Annual Golf and Tennis Classic

October 12, 2017, Wickatunk, NJ – Collier Youth Services, a Monmouth County non-profit organization celebrating its 90th year empowering at-risk youth, is proud to announce their success of raising over $80,000 at their 23rd Annual Golf and Tennis Classic held on Monday, October 2, 2017 at Eagle Oaks Golf and Country Club in Farmingdale, NJ. Patty Burrus of Spring Lake and a member of the Friends of the Spring Lake Five Committee is an annual attendee of the outing and say, "Collier Youth Services does a wonderful job of helping at risk-youth. I look forward to their annual golf outing each year. It is always a great event that supports a great organization!"

This major community event highlights and raises funds to support the Collier Residential Program, Kateri Day Camp, and Collier School. Thanks to some of Collier most generous and loyal supporters including the Tournament Sponsor Bill Rubenstein, Woodhaven Lumber and Millwork, The Friends of the Spring Lake Five, and especially the golf and tennis committee members, this year’s event was extremely successful. Foundation Board Chair Gerry Norkus of Sea Girt was the MC of the live auction that included foursomes to Baltusrol Country Club and Galloway National Golf Course.

Eagle Oaks Country Club provided a great day and backdrop for a great evening for this spectacular event. Collier is proud to have supporters from all over the state as it provides services to kids from over 80 towns in NJ.

In addition to the general fundraising events of the day, a special on course an additional $880 were raised on the course for the young women in Collier House and Collier Group Home to have a fine dining experience. “Most, if not all, of our girls have never been taught proper etiquette while at the dinner table. We hope to teach them the proper way to eat their food and the proper use of utensils. At the end of the summer they enjoy a nice dinner out where they can feel special, be exposed to a fine dining experience and feel comfortable with their skills,” explained Maureen Kale, Director of Collier Residential Program.

For 90 years, Collier Youth Services has focused on improving the lives of underserved youth with academic, developmental, and emotional challenges.
