The County Commission doesn't care about Defending Property Rights and Stopping Government Waste
The Monmouth Executive Airport fiasco
The Monmouth Executive Airport saga is a perfect example of why we need a new voice on the Board of County Commissioners. For over a year, the current Republican leadership spent taxpayer dollars on high-priced consultants and legal fees in an attempt to seize private property, only to retreat when the public started asking questions.
To put it simply, Government should not be in the business of seizing private assets to serve corporate interests or political vanity projects. And every dollar spent on "feasibility studies" for land seizures must be justified to the public before a single check is written. The recent settlement also shows that partnership, like the aviation program with Brookdale, should have been the goal from day one, not a legal afterthought. It's time for a change.
