FLAG ( Front Line Appreciation Group) OF Freehold/Marlboro

Helps Local COVID-19 Patient Say Thank You to Her Staff AT CentraState Hospital

WEDNESDAY, May 20, 2020 (Freehold, NJ))

FLAG (Front Line Appreciation Group), a group providing meals to first responders fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, took action when a local 20 year old woman reached out on Facebook.

“I just wanted to write a HUGE shout out and thank you to all the CentraState employees working their butts off around the clock to make patients feel as comfortable and secure in their recovery process as they can.”

Sharon Getsis, a 20 year old Manalapan resident, wanted to get the word out that it can happen to anyone.

“I hope you are all staying safe, and remembering to continue social distancing! I had not been leaving the house more than 1-2 times a week to the grocery store, always with a mask and gloves, and am 20, and still contracted this disease to the point of needing hospitalization.”

“Thanks to the amazing health heroes of our community, hopefully I’ll be seeing a mend in health quite soon, but in the meantime, is of the utmost importance to me that I am able to somehow give back to them as well.”

FLAG of Freehold/Marlboro was able to arrange brunch and dinner for over 50 employees for two shifts in the COVID unit on Wednesday, May 20. Granny's Grill in Cream Ridge, NJ and Tooties cafe and ice cream bar in New Eqypt, NJ delivered breakfast sandwiches, coffee, donuts and freshly made ice cream for the day shift. For dinner, 13 pizzas, individually packed into two slices each for the safety of the staff, was delivered from Romeo’s Pizza in Freehold, NJ.

The CentraState staff were delighted. Many visited Sharon personally to thank her for being remembered. “Thank you for the generosity of the food you sent in to our health care team. They were so generous we were able to feed 2 of our largest units 3N and 4N with their donation,” the 4North medical team.

FLAG of Freehold/Marlboro thanks all the people who generously donated to make this happen! FLAG was formed to say thank you to our tireless heroes on the front lines of this pandemic while helping our local businesses stay in business. Over the last two months we have provided countless meals to CentraState hospital staff and are continuing to support our front line workers in the Freehold and Marlboro area.
We are not over this pandemic yet, and with your donations, we can continue to help!
