MARLBORO, NJ — A Freehold man has been identified as the person hit and killed by a car while walking along a dark stretch of Rt. 9 Wednesday night in Marlboro Township.

Domingo E. Crux-Chan, 23, last known address of Freehold, has been identified as the victim, according to Monmouth County prosecutor Chris Gramiccioni. Crux-Chan was hit by a car at 10:15 p.m. Wednesday on Rt. 9 in the area of the signalized U-turn north of Covered Bridge Road. That is near the Covered Bridge condo complex. His identity was previously unknown, and police were asking for the public's help in determining his name.

He was hit by a 2001 Dodge Intrepid, traveling southbound in the right lane. Sadly, the force of the impact caused the young man to be projected up over the vehicle, striking the hood and windshield before coming to a final stop in the right lane of Rt. 9 on the southbound side, just south of the intersection, Gramiccioni said.
