How to get full and luscious lips!

As a professional makeup artist women always ask me how they can apply perfect lipstick and make their lips appear fuller - this is how!

CARE FOR YOUR LIPS

Lips do not have hair, sweat glands or sebaceous glands, lips do not have the usual protection that keeps skin smooth and supple. This explains why the lips have a tendency to become more easily chapped and dehydrated. Just like our face, lips needs to be properly cared for if you want a smooth lip color application that is going to last. I suggest using a lip exfoliater a few times per week and use of a lip balm or lip moisturizer daily.

PRIME YOUR LIPS

Rub a small amount of lip balm or moisturizer on your lips. Blot excess with a tissue. This will help soften the lips and prepare them for the lip color application.

Apply a small amount of lip primer. This will create a neutral base. Note: Lip primers are preferred over foundation as lip primers have special ingredients that act like a magnet which helps to increase the wear of your lip color.

LINE YOUR LIPS

Line the natural lip line with a sharp lip liner that is very similar to the shade of your lip color.

Define the cupid’s bow by drawing a rounded “x”.

Neatly line the corners of your lips with a >.

On the lower lip, draw a small rounded line directly below the cupid’s bow.

Connect the lines from the outside corner of the lips to the center.

APPLY COLOR

From the outside corner on the top lip area, lay the brush flat against the lip and brush along the top lip towards the cupid’s bow. When you reach the cupid’s bow, turn the brush downwards and brush lip color towards the center of the top lip.

Flip lip brush over and repeat on the other side of top lip. Reload lip brush.

Start at the outside corner of the bottom lip area, lay the brush flat against the lip brush along the bottom lip towards the center. Stop.

Flip lip brush over and repeat on the other side of the bottom lip.

BLOT

To blot your lips, gently hold a tissue flat to your lips and press. Do not bend your lips into the tissue.

SET YOUR LIP COLOR

Hold a tissue gently to your lips and with a powder brush lightly dust powder on your lips through the tissue.

Reapply another layer of color as instructed above.

GLOSS AND SEAL

You can now add gloss to your lips by placing a dot in the center of your bottom lip and spread outward and gently press your lips together or if you prefer not to gloss add lipstick sealer, being careful not to touch your lips together until sealer is completely dry.
