Marlboro Hit with Possible Tax Increase
Township says it has to pay for January snow removal, recycling cost increases and rising pension and healthcare payments for public workers

Marlboro, NJ - Open your wallets. Rising pension and healthcare costs for town workers, paying for snow removal in the January blizzard and an increase in recycling costs all add up to Marlboro Township raising municipal property taxes this year.
The township unveiled a proposed $36.6 million budget last Thursday, reports the Asbury Park Press, with a new municipal tax rate of 36.6 cents per $100 of assessed value, up from last year when it was 35.5 cents. That means the average homeowner in Marlboro will be asked to pay about $64 more dollars this year, for a home assessed at $494,873, the average, reports the APP.
A public hearing on the budget will be April 14 at 7 p.m. at town hall.
