Monmouth County Man Charged With Burglary, Theft

Police have arrested a Middletown man, who they say stole credit cards from vehicles in Holmdel, then used them to buy merchandise and gift cards at various businesses.

Thomas R. Gingerelli, 29, of Lorraine Place, Middletown, was arrested after a joint investigation by Holmdel and Hazlet police.

Gingerelli was charged with three counts each of motor vehicle burglaries, theft and credit card fraud.

According to a news release from Holmdel Lt. Keith Cannata:

Gingerelli burglarized vehicles in Holmdel on June 13, June 16, and June 22 and took wallets, cash, purses, credit cards and jewelry.

He used the stolen credit cards in Hazlet and Holmdel, and he was identified through the camera surveillance footage where the credit cards were used.

Police have previously said that the June 13 vehicle burglary occurred in the parking lot of the Meridian Long Term Care Facility in Holmdel, and the credit card stolen in that case was used later that day at the ShopRite on Route 35 in Hazlet.

Gingerelli is being held at the Monmouth County jail, Freehold Township. He is being held without bail on a warrant charging him with probation violation.

Holmdel Detective Sgt. Louis A. Torres and Hazlet Detective Jerry Laurino handled the investigation.
