A 58-year-old quadriplegic resident was rescued from the third story of his century-old home after a second-alarm fire ripped through the Monmouth Beach house around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday.

James Fuller was helped out of his bed by his caretaker, police officers, and a firefighter, according to The Asbury Park Press.

Fire crews from Long Branch, Neptune, Little Silver, Oceanport, West Long Branch, Deal and Asbury Park remained on the scene for several hours to put out the blaze.

The fire is currently under investigation by the Monmouth Beach and Monmouth County Fire Marshal’s Office, according to nj.com.
