Rutgers Student From Colts Neck Hit, Killed By Car: Prosecutor
Cory Aufiero, 19, was struck by a car driven by a Somerset man who police say was driving with a suspended license. He died at the scene.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — A 19-year old Rutgers student, who is from Colts Neck, was hit and killed by a car Friday night in downtown New Brunswick.
The deceased pedestrian was identified as Cory Aufiero. He was pronounced dead at the scene on Friday, Sept. 28, at approximately 9:30 pm.
David Stewart, 36, of Somerset was the driver of the vehicle that struck the victim.

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Director Anthony Caputo of the New Brunswick Police Department said that Stewart was driving a 2011 Nissan Sentra and traveling west on George Street near Albany and Somerset streets. Aufiero lost his footing and stumbled onto the street, where he was struck by the vehicle.
An autopsy is pending with the Middlesex County Medical Examiner. An eyetwitness reported seeing a heavy police presence on George Street Friday night, and that they saw first responders trying to resuscitate someone.

Stewart has been issued a summons for driving with a suspended New Jersey license.
