Aberdeen And Matawan Water Will No Longer Have Slight Chlorine Odor
If your water has smelled slightly of chlorine, it was because of maintenance work at the water treatment plants.

If you live in Aberdeen or Matawan and your water has smelled slightly of chlorine, it was because of maintenance work at the water treatment plant.
But starting Monday, that slight odor and taste will be gone, the water company said. On Monday, New Jersey American Water will resume the use of chloramines (a mixture of chlorine and ammonia) to treat the water at at its Swimming River Water Treatment Plant in Colts Neck and its Jumping Brook Water Treatment Plant in Neptune, according to a post on the Middletown Township website.
In January, the water company temporarily changed its treatment process from chloramines to chlorine, as part of its maintenance program. But because of that temporary change, some customers may have had a water with a slight chlorine taste and odor, the water company said.
