Samuel Appiah-Debrah, 44, of Sayreville, was driving a 2012 Honda Accord northbound on Rt. 535 when his car crossed the painted median and entered the southbound lane, sideswiping another vehicle.

After the initial collision, the Honda continued northbound, struck a curb and came to rest in a wooded area at the northwest corner of the intersection.

Responding officers forced entry into the vehicle and immediately began lifesaving measures. Appiah-Debrah was transported to Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased.

At this time, the crash does not appear to be criminal in nature.

The crash shut down Rt. 535 for four hours Monday night.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact Sergeant William Beard of the South Brunswick Police Department at 732-329-4000, ext. 7483.
