OLD BRIDGE, NJ — A condo in Old Bridge was struck by lightning Thursday afternoon, and is engulfed in a three-alarm fire, said Old Bridge Twp. Police.
The two-story wooden condo on the 20 block of Homestead Drive was struck by lightning at about 2:45 p.m. Thursday, as storms moved through the area.
Old Bridge Police Sgt. Richard Mustacchio said only the second floor of the condo building is on fire. He said there were no injuries.
The condo is located in Old Bridge, but has a Matawan mailing address.
Matawan Mayor Joe Altomonte said Matawan firefighters are racing to the scene to provide mutual aid.
There is no word if anyone was inside the condo when it was hit.
