Arrest Made In South Amboy Train Station Fatal Stabbing

A Camden man has been arrested and charged with fatally stabbing a South Amboy man May 29 at the South Amboy train station.

SOUTH AMBOY, NJ — A Camden man has been arrested and charged with fatally stabbing a South Amboy man May 29 at the South Amboy train station.

Bruce Matthews, 19, of Camden was arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree murder and possession of a weapon in the death of Robert Spiegel, 32, of South Amboy.

Spiegel was found at approximately 9:14 p.m. by South Amboy Police at the train station, lying on the ground with multiple stab wounds.

Police say Matthews attacked Spiegel and then fled the scene. Spiegel was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:37 p.m.

NJ Transit worked with South Amboy and Camden police to make the arrest. The NJ Transit police who helped make the arrest are Detective Sergeant Thomas Springs, Detective Michael Bavosa and Detective Laquan Hudson.
