Matawan Aberdeen Regional School District Gets Interim Director of Special Services

A committee interviewed the candidate during an executive session Wednesday.

The Committee of the Whole for the Matawan Aberdeen Regional School Disctrict appointed an interim director of special services during their meeting Wednesday night.

The committee appointed Joseph Jakubowski, who served in a comparable position in Freehold Regional School District for 25 years until he retired in 2004.

According to Superintended David Healy, a person may hold an interum position for a maximum of two years.

The committee typically saves action items for the regular action meetings of the board of education, Board of Education President Charles Kenny said. However, the board felt it was necessary to fill this position sooner rather than later.

The previous director, Robert Schweitzer, recently resigned for personal reasons, according to Healy.
