CLIFFWOOD BEACH, NJ — Eight years after the murder, the 2015 fatal shooting of a Cliffwood Beach man remains a cold case, and this week Monmouth County Crime Stoppers put out a public request for any leads in the murder of William "Billy" Karecki.

On Sept. 13, 2015 Karecki, just 22 years old, was found dead in the Whale Creek parking lot on Ocean Boulevard in Aberdeen.

At the time, Karecki’s sister told NJ 101.5 he had been shot nine times, and that he had left the family’s home in Cliffwood Beach after receiving a phone call from a restricted number earlier that same evening.

The two men are accused of assaulting the man and then stealing $200 cash from him. The man, who suffered extensive injuries, was taken to Community Medical Center, said Toms River Police at the time.
