Lady Huskies Honored for Historic Soccer Season
Record breaking season and career for senior players
The Board of Education honored the members, managers and coaches of the Girls Soccer team during their meeting Monday night.
Matawan Regional High School Principal Michelle Ruscavage addressed the packed audience, and shared the girls' historic record.
With a 13 wins, 8 losses and 1 tie, the team propelled themselves to the title of Central Jersey Group Three State Sectional Champions - the furthest any Matawan soccer team has gone in the history of the school.

"What was displayed was school spirit, team spirit and just a phenomenal display of sportsmanship and a great event, so congratulations to you," Superintendent David Healy said to the team.
The Lady Huskies defeated Hamiliton West for the first state tournament win in history for the Matawan soccer program. They continued forward wth a victory over Nottingham in an "overtime penalty kick thriller," Ruscavage said, and won over and . The season came to an end against , after a goal was scored off of a penalty kick.

"They are the heart and sole of our community and great ambassadors for Matawan Regional High School," Ruscavage said.
The senior class was also honored for a soccer career worth remembering. Their 35 career wins made them the most successful class in the history of the school's soccer program.
