Man Charged with Oxford Lane Car Break-Ins, Police Say

A local Aberdeen man was seen trying to break into three cars Tuesday, police allege.

Aberdeen, NJ - A local Aberdeen man was arrested Tuesday and charged with breaking into three cars parked on Oxford Lane.

Michael J. Grillo, 19, of Lloyd Rd., Aberdeen, was charged with the burglary of three vehicles. Grillo has been arrested for allegedly breaking into cars in Aberdeen before. He broke into cars on Fawn Place and Fordham Drive in late December, police said. In the Fawn Place incident, he was actually stopped by a resident, who grabbed him and held him until police arrived.

On Tuesday, May 3, at about 4:20 p.m. police received a call from a resident reporting that a man was trying to enter vehicles parked on Oxford Lane near Lloyd Road. Officer John Young and Sgt. David Mauro located Grillo, who allegedly fit the description given by the witness, walking on Lloyd Road. He was in possession of loose change and several packs of cigarettes that had been taken from the unlocked cars, police said.

He was identified as the man trying to break into the cars, police said.

Grillo was taken to Monmouth County Correctional Institution in default of $22,500 bail with no 10% option.
