Man Who Caused Fatal DWI Old Bridge Crash Gets 8 Years

A Monroe man admitted he was driving under the influence when he rear-ended a car on Rt. 9 last summer, killing a 20-year-old college kid.

OLD BRIDGE, NJ — A Monroe Twp. man was sentenced to eight years in prison for causing a fatal Old Bridge car crash that killed a 20-year-old woman and injured three others; he was driving drunk at the time of the crash, said Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone.

The fatal crash happened July 18, 2021 on Rt. 9 south near Texas Road.

When Old Bridge Police officers got there, they found a Toyota Echo with four occupants with varying injuries. One of the women, Ciara Gee, 20, of Raleigh, North Carolina was pronounced dead at the scene. The young woman was a college student who had dreams of becoming a physical therapist; she had been sightseeing with friends in New York City when she was killed, according to her obituary.
