Man Shot In 7/11 Parking Lot On Matawan/Old Bridge Border

A man was shot Tuesday night in the parking lot of the 7/11 on Morristown Road on the Matawan/Old Bridge border.

MATAWAN, NJ — A man was shot Tuesday night in the parking lot of the 7/11 on Morristown Road on the Matawan/Old Bridge border, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Acting Old Bridge Police Chief Donald Fritz, Jr.

At approximately 8:34 p.m. Tuesday, authorities received a 911 call reporting that an individual was shot at the 7/11 parking lot on Morristown Road.

Old Bridge Police responded to the scene and located one man who sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for his injuries. Matawan officers also arrived on location and assisted Old Bridge Police.

A spokeswoman for the Middlesex County Prosecutor said Thursday morning they cannot release any information on where the victim is from, or how the shooting happened.

The Matawan Police Department said they received several calls from residents who were concerned for their safety Tuesday night, but they said there was no known danger to the public.

"Additionally, rumors have been circulating that a police officer was shot during this incident. Those rumors are FALSE," said Matawan Police.
