Old Bridge: 2nd Person Hit By Car On Rt. 9 In 4 Days

OLD BRIDGE, NJ — For the second time in less than one week, someone was hit by a car on Rt. 9 through Old Bridge Township.

The most recent incident happened at 8 p.m. Sunday, when a pedestrian was struck near the Rt. 9 northbound ramp from Fairway Lane, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

Old Bridge Police did not release any further details.

However, just four days earlier, on Thursday, Dec. 2, a 69-year-old Old Bridge man was hit by a car while attempting to cross Rt. 9 southbound. Old Bridge Police say the man was struck at 4:56 p.m. as he ran across Rt. 9 south without using a designated crosswalk.

A grey BMW traveling south in the left lane swerved to avoid him, but was unable to, said police. The driver, from Marlboro, stopped to report the accident and was not charged with any driving offenses.

The Old Bridge man appeared to sustain a broken left leg and was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for treatment.
