NEW YORK, NJ — A young man from Old Bridge is accused of sending a threatening text message to a college classmate, where he threatened to "shoot up" the campus of CUNY City College in Manhattan, according to New York City Police.

Din Bajrektarevic, 21, of Old Bridge, was arrested Friday and charged with making a terroristic threat.

It was a fellow student who called police: He said Bajrektarevic sent him the text message last Wednesday, Nov. 23. The student called New York City Police at 5:43 p.m. that day to report the text from Bajrektarevic.

Bajrektarevic has since been released from NYPD custody, but he has been suspended from City College and is barred from stepping foot on campus.

In an additional email to students, CUNY's head of public safety circulated a photo of Bajrektarevic and asked anyone who saw him on campus to alert the department, the New York Post reported.

Classes were scheduled to continue as normal, but additional public safety officers were present on campus as a precaution, CUNY said.
