Old Bridge Man Robbed Pizza Deliveryman At Gunpoint In 2019

An Old Bridge man with prior robbery convictions was sentenced for the 2019 gunpoint robbery of a man while he was delivering pizza:

PERTH AMBOY, NJ — An Old Bridge man with prior robbery convictions has been sentenced for the 2019 gunpoint robbery of a man while he was delivering pizza in Perth Amboy.

This happened in May of 2019, but the sentencing of Tyjier Summers, 27, of Old Bridge, was announced Monday by Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Perth Amboy Police Chief Larry Cattano.

Summers was sentenced to 13 years in state prison pursuant to the No Early Release Act; he must serve 85 percent of his sentence before being eligible for parole. He had previously been sentenced to 12 years in state prison for prior and separate robberies. His prison terms will run consecutively.

At 11 p.m. May 13, 2019 Perth Amboy police were called to Rector Street for a report of a robbery in progress. The victim said an unknown man — later identified as Tyjier Summers — tried to rob him, with what was later confirmed to be a handgun, while he was delivering pizza to a home on Rector Street.

Summers was located with the description provided by the victim and the handgun was recovered. Police took him into custody after a foot pursuit.

Summers was subsequently indicted for first-degree armed robbery, weapons charges, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and obstruction.

On January 6 of this year, Summers plead to first-degree armed robbery.
