Man Hit, Killed By NJ Transit Train In Aberdeen Friday Morning

The man has not been identified by name; NJ Transit officials said he was hit on Cliffwood Avenue just past the train station:

ABERDEEN, NJ — A man was hit and killed by an NJ Transit train at approximately 8:05 a.m. Friday; he was struck just past the Aberdeen-Matawan train station, said a spokesman for NJ Transit.

The man has not been identified by name, but NJ Transit officials said he was hit in the vicinity of Cliffwood Avenue just past the train station. He was an adult male pedestrian, said Aberdeen Police.

He was hit by a North Jersey Coast line train, which left Bay Head at 6:53 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Penn Station New York at 9:03 a.m.

No injuries were reported to the approximately 200 customers or the crew on board and North Jersey Coast Line rail service was temporarily suspended in both directions between South Amboy and Long Branch.

As of 10 a.m., service has since resumed, but there are 60-minute delays on the North Jersey Coast line.
