Perth Amboy Man Admits To Leading Heroin, Fentanyl Drug Ring
The drugs were packaged in a Bronx apartment, with heroin, fentanyl and methamphetamine sold to customers in New Jersey and elsewhere:
PERTH AMBOY, NJ — In Newark federal court on Wednesday, a Perth Amboy man admitted to leading a heroin and fentanyl drug trafficking ring, U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger announced.
Luis Cabrera, 37, of Perth Amboy, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute heroin, fentanyl and methamphetamine.
The ring operated from a drug mill in a Bronx apartment, said federal prosecutors.

Cabrera led the drug ring from 2019 to June 2020, selling heroin, fentanyl and methamphetamine to customers in New Jersey and elsewhere.
On June 30, 2020, law enforcement raided the Bronx apartment and recovered 8,650 individual doses of heroin, plus fentanyl and methamphetamine. Police also seized glassine baggies, tape, scales, cutting agents to mix with narcotics to increase their weight and value, and stamps for the branding of the drugs.

Cabrera was at the apartment the day of the raid and was arrested on site. On previous occasions, Cabrera met with conspirators in New Jersey and also purchased supplies to package the drugs in New Jersey, say police.
Five other New Jersey men previously pleaded guilty to helping run the drug ring: Pedro Acosta Ramos, 34; Rodolfo Antonio Acosta Liriano, 38; Johan Manuel Lopez Brito, 35; Humberto Antonio Rodriguez, 35, and Julian Brito Sanchez, 50.
He is facing a maximum of 40 years in prison.
