Sayreville Man Driving In Stolen Car Crashes On Rt. 9, Police Say

A man driving a Hyundai Elantra stolen out of Marlboro drove through a red light Wednesday night in Old Bridge, and crashed, said police.

OLD BRIDGE, NJ — A man driving a Hyundai Elantra stolen out of Marlboro drove through a red light Wednesday night in Old Bridge and crashed into a tractor trailer, according to the Old Bridge Police Department.

It was a 25-year-old Sayreville man, Daniel Kriss II, driving the stolen car, said police.

The crash happened at 9:58 p.m. on Rt. 9 north in Old Bridge, at the intersection of Perrine Rd. and Rt. 9.

A tractor trailer was making a left turn from Perrine Rd. west onto Rt. 9 south. The stolen Hyundai Elantra, traveling north on Rt. 9, failed to stop for a red signal light, striking the tractor, said police.

Both Kriss and the driver of the tractor trailer, a 46-year-old Philadelphia man, had to be taken by ambulance to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

There was a passenger in the stolen Hyundai and that person was transported to Old Bridge Hospital.

Kriss was issued a summons for receiving stolen property and several motor vehicle violations.
