Missing Teen, 17, Found In Raritan Bay Off Perth Amboy
The body of a 17-year-old swimmer who went missing in Raritan Bay off Perth Amboy has been recovered, according to reports.
PERTH AMBOY, NJ — The body of a 17-year-old swimmer who went missing in Raritan Bay off Perth Amboy has been recovered, according to reports.
The teen's body was found by NYPD divers just past 5 p.m.; he was taken to shore in Perth Amboy and given CPR. He was unconscious, in cardiac arrest and taken to Raritan Bay Medical Center, according to Perth Amboy Police Chief Ed Mullen. His condition remains unknown as of Thursday evening.
"He was clinging to life," said Mullen, according to CBS 2.

There were conflicting reports that a 5-year-old boy was missing as well, but it appears it was just the 17-year-old who had gone missing in the water. The Perth Amboy police chief said he too, had heard reports of the missing 5-year-old and that they were not correct.
Several people had gone into the water with the teen, but they were able to get out.

ABC 7 is reporting that the call about people in the water first came in at 2:40 p.m. and the search is in the area of a marina off Water and Lewis streets.
The Coast Guard is assisting Perth Amboy police with the rescue efforts. A Coast Guard boat from their Sandy Hook base is combing the waters, and a rescue helicopter is currently en route to the area up from Atlantic City. The NYPD is also responding.
