Winter Weather Advisory Until 10 p.m. In Matawan and Aberdeen

Two to three inches of snow fell Friday afternoon in parts of Monmouth County. Dangerous driving conditions expected.

The National Weather Service’s winter weather advisory will remain in effect until 10 p.m. Friday in Monmouth County, where 4 to 6 inches of snow is expected.

Wet snow is expected to be heavy at times Friday afternoon, but it will taper off to flurries or drizzle after 8 p.m., the weather service said.

By Friday afternoon, about 3.1 inches of snow had fallen in Howell, about 2.5 inches in Manalapan and 2.0 inches in Freehold, according to unofficial data from the weather service.

Driving is expected to be hazardous, and the weather service is warning motorists to be prepared for limited visibility and slippery roads. Road may refreeze Friday night.
