Woman, 2 Dogs Escape Old Bridge Fire Thursday Morning

The homeowner said she was woken up by the smell of smoke and the sound of fire alarms going off at 6:30 a.m. Thursday:

OLD BRIDGE, NJ — A woman and her two dogs were able to escape a fire that broke out in her Old Bridge home Thursday morning, said Old Bridge Police.

The fire broke out at 6:30 a.m. Thursday at a home on Eagle Court. When police and firefighters got there, the home was engulfed in flames.

The homeowner said she was woken up by the smell of smoke and the sound of fire alarms going off.

She was able to get safely get out of the house with her two dogs. Cheesequake Fire Co., South Old Bridge Fire Co. and Monroe Fire Co. all responded, as did first aid volunteers from Laurence Harbor, Old Bridge Green & White and BLs #2 & #3 and Old Bridge OEM.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The house has been deemed uninhabitable and the residents will stay with family.
