Woodfield Sewer Project in Aberdeen's Freneau Section Heads Towards Estimated Fall 2018 Completion

Work on the multi-year project to bring sewers to the Woodfield area in Aberdeen's rural Freneau neighborhood is well under way.

Work on the multi-year project to bring sewers to the Woodfield area in Aberdeen’s rural Freneau neighborhood is well under way.

Under the plan unanimously approved by the Aberdeen Township Council in 2015, residents of Aberdeen’s last full neighborhood with private septic systems are expected to be able to begin connecting to the municipal sewer system by fall 2018. Residents will be notified of the exact timing for connecting after the new pump station and force main and gravity sanitation lines are tested and have passed inspection.

The project also includes the installation of new water mains and road reconstruction throughout the area.

“Significantly, our Council was able to fund this vital infrastructure project without using property tax dollars,” noted Deputy Mayor Margaret Montone, a long-time resident of the Woodfield area who has led the Council committee responsible for the project, joined by Councilmen Greg Cannon and Robert Swindle.

Financing for the project was achieved through a combination of funding from the New Jersey Environmental Infrastructure Trust, bonds, and funds from the township’s current sewer operating budget.
