YouTuber Who Explored Abandoned Yacht In Sayreville Charged With Criminal Trespassing

A woman who owns a 110-foot boat stuck in a creek in Sayreville filed criminal trespassing charges against a man who explored it.

SAYREVILLE, NJ — A man who explored an abandoned yacht stuck in a creek in Sayreville is charged with multiple counts of criminal trespassing, and the case will go to trial next month.

Matthew Dolitsky explores urban and wilderness areas in the New York City tri-state area, and records his adventures on his YouTube channel, Two Feet Outdoors. In the fall of 2024, Dolitsky took his kayak into the South River in Sayreville, and paddled to an abandoned 110-foot boat stuck in a creek in the Sayreville marsh.

He was later charged with several counts of criminal trespassing. He says the charges were filed by a woman who owns the abandoned boat.

A trial date is now set for Feb. 26 in Sayreville municipal court. Dolitsky said he intends to fight the charges. He said the woman is refusing all attempts to meditate the issue.

"The complainant wants to push this to the maximum extent of the law. She is not willing to negotiate; she is not willing compromise," he said over the course of multiple videos on his channel. "There was first a mediation hearing. She refused any and all mediation ... The second hearing was (for) probable cause, and the judge found that there was probable cause for this to move forward in the court ... (She) wants to push this to the maximum extent and does not want to hear anything regarding any kind of plea deal or negotiation. I'm gonna fight this to the fullest extent possible ... Just to take this to trial is gonna cost me several thousands of dollars."

If found guilty, Dolitsky will have to pay a fine.

The boat Dolitsky has explored is "The Blue Jacket." It is a 110-foot pleasure craft from the 1950s that has been stuck in a narrow channel in Sayreville for decades. Dolitsky kayaked out to the boat, got on it and spent an hour exploring it, in this video he posted Nov. 13, 2024 to his channel:

He said while he was on the boat, he never saw "No Trespassing" or "Private Property" signs. He also said there were no such signs on a private dock he used to access the boat.

After the charges were filed, the owners of both the dock and boat put up "No Trespassing" signs on both. Dolitsky is adamant the signs were not there when he first went exploring.

"If those signs were here previously, I would not have stepped foot on this dock," he said on his YouTube channel. "I don't violate 'no trespassing' signs."

Dolitsky said he's been told the woman who owns the boat is a "prominent attorney" whose family has lived in Sayreville for generations. He said the boat is polluting local waterways, and nobody's doing anything about it.

"I've heard Sayreville is a corrupt town ... How is it possible a prominent attorney has a derelict yacht sitting abandoned in a creek?" he asked. "The front hull has a hole in it; every time the (tide) comes and goes, water is coming out of that vessel. There is no doubt in my mind that it's polluting the South River."

A public relations firm hired by the town of Sayreville said Wednesday the boat is still there. "It is not abandoned and it is owned by a private company," they said.

This map, which shows where the Blue Jacket is located, shows it is stuck in a creek located on the property of Viking Marine Terminal.

With a GoPro strapped around his head, Dolitsky shares with his nearly 50,000 subscribers his adventures, which range from kayaking around the site of the famous Matawan shark attacks to scaling tall buildings in New York City. He's camped overnight in Central Park, explored abandoned high-rises and also does something he calls "stealth" camping, which is where he tries to camp in places that normally do not permit overnight camping, such as on New York's High Line park.
