3 Mendham Teachers Get S.T.E.M. Grants From Utility Company
Each educator will receive a grant for up to $500.

Nine New Jersey teachers have received grants from FirstEnergy, the parent company of local utility provider Jersey Central Power & Light, for education in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
Three of those nine teachers are in Mendham.
Melanie Chernoff and Andrew Palmer at Mendham High School, along with Denise Magrini at Mountain View Middle School in Mendham, will each receive grants from the company up to $500, FirstEnergy said in a statement Thursday.

“FirstEnergy is proud to award these grants to our winning teachers to promote science, technology, engineering and mathematics instruction for their students,” said James V. Fakult, president of JCP&L in a statement. “Choosing winners was tough again this year because of the outstanding quality of the applications.”
Local educators who make up FirstEnergy’s Educational Advisory Council recommend other educators for the grant. Recipients must furnish a written summary and evaluation of their projects as part of the program. That summary is then shared with other educators in FirstEnergy’s service area.
