7 West Morris Students Named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists

Students from both high schools were recognized for their high PSAT scores and overall academic achievement.

MENDHAM, NJ — Seven West Morris Regional high schoolers were recognized for their academic excellence today, by being named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists.

All of the students earned some of the highest PSAT scores in New Jersey, as well as having an outstanding academic record, an endorsement by a high school official, and leadership abilities.

The six students from West Morris Mendham nominated are:

  • Bennett L. Miller
  • Stephen W. Ryan
  • William C. Schumm

One student from West Morris Central was nominated:

  • Gabriel P. Lukijaniuk

16,000 students nation wide (less than one percent of all high schoolers) were nominated for the 63rd annual National Merit Scholarship Program. All nominees are in the running to win 7,500 scholarships worth over $32 million in the spring. Finalists will be announced in February, and scholarship winners are announced after that.
