Bridge In Chester To Undergo Emergency Repairs: See Details

Drivers should expect minor delays as construction is being completed.

CHESTER, NJ — A bridge in Chester will begin undergoing emergency repairs starting Wednesday, according to Mayor Tim Drag.

The repairs are being made to the bridge on Pottersville Road, above a tributary of the Black River in Chester Township.

According to the mayor, the repairs will address damage to a portion of the bridge’s stone masonry parapet.

The bridge is a single-span stone masonry arch structure measuring roughly seven feet in length with a 21.8-foot-wide roadway. It is not known when it was originally built.

"Construction is expected to maintain one lane of alternating traffic while work is underway," Drag said. "Motorists traveling through the area should expect minor delays and are advised to drive safely and use caution while passing through the work zone."

Sparwick Contracting Inc., of Lafayette, New Jersey, will perform the emergency repair work for roughly $123,000. The county is paying for the entire cost of the repairs.

It's not clear exactly how long the repairs will take at this time.
