Celebrate Halloween With These Activities in Chester Township

Residents are invited to participate in Trunk or Treat and the Great Pumpkin Carve-Out Contest.

CHESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Halloween is officially two weeks away. Get out your angel wings, firefighter hats and cat ears and celebrate with these safe and spirited activities going on in Chester Township.

Trunk or Treat

This pre-Halloween event has it all. Not only will kids trick-or-treat from trunk to trunk, there will also be contests, games, music, a bonfire, toilet-papering a tree, and more. "Trunk or Treat" atteendees must bring candy in the trunk of their car to participate and are encouraged to decorate their trunk. Atteendees are additionally asked to bring non-perishable food donations for the Chester Food Pantry. Prizes will be given out for best adult costume, best child's costume, best pet costume, and best decorated trunk. The prizes are offered from the borough recreation department in cooperation with the township and borough police, Chester Volunteer Fire Company, and the Chester First Aid Squad. The free event will take place 4-6 p.m. Oct. 29 at Chubb Park on Route 24. The rain date is set for Oct. 30. Advanced registration is required and can be done so here. Great Pumpkin Carve-Out Contest

The town will light up with glowing pumpkins made by Chester's very own K-8 children in the "Great Pumpkin Carve-Out Contest." Kids are asked to bring their already carved pumpkin to the Gazebo on Main Street from Oct. 28-31. Include a flame-less candle with each pumpkin to illuminate the town at night. Residents can vote for the "Best Pumpkin" by ballot and on Facebook. The first prize winner will get $50, and the second and third prize winners will both get $25. Kids will also be given the chance to guess the weight of a big pumpkin at Gazebo Park. The winner with the closest guess will win $75.
