Chester Township Ranks As One Of Wealthiest NJ Towns: Report

Even with a decrease in median income, the town is still in the top 20.

CHESTER, NJ— Chester Township, like most of the state, saw its' median income decrease during the Great recession. Unlike most towns, however, the median income for Chester Township stayed high-- high enough to put it at #13 on a list of the 20 wealthiest towns in the state.

According to a new report by NJ.com based on new Census data, the median income in Chester Township is 114 percent over the state average. (Information for Chester Borough was not available.)

The lowest median income in the state was $25,042. The highest was $200,152. Chester Township comes in on the high end with a median income of $154,094.

This is a 12 percent decrease from before the recession, and reflects a 12.6 percent decrease in home value.
