NJ Gov. Chris Christie Catches Foul Ball. Then This Happens. (Video)
Looks like the unpopular governor can't escape the wrath of voters even during his leisure time.
Chris Christie can catch a ball, but he can't catch a break. The unpopular New Jersey governor heard loud boos after he caught a foul ball hit by St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Paul DeJong during Tuesday night's New York Mets game at Citi Field in New York City. Christie caught the ball with his left hand and was initially applauded. But when fans actually got a good look at who made the snag, the boos fell like rain. Christie did appear to give the ball to a fan immediately after he caught it.
It was another case of how Christie can't catch a break even as he tries to enjoy some leisure time. With his approval rating recently plummeting to the lowest level for any governor in New Jersey history, Christie was ridiculed nationwide recently for closing the state government during a budget battle.
Then he was chided for going to Island Beach State Park and vacationing with his family after closing the beach to the public during the budget standoff. The Christie memes were merciless.
