Chris Christie Intervenes During Heated Exchange At Trump Intelligence Briefing, NBC News Reports

Gov. Chris Christie intervened — and may have yelled "shut up" — during a heated exchange at a Donald Trump intelligence briefing, NBC says.

Gov. Chris Christie intervened — and may have yelled "shut up" or "calm down" — during a heated exchange at an intelligence briefing for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, NBC reports.

The exclusive NBC report, which Christie has called a "work of fiction," quoted sources who spoke of friction between retired Gen. Michael Flynn, one of the advisers Trump brought to the briefing, and the officials who conducted the briefing.

Four sources with knowledge of the briefing, which included two intelligence officials who spoke to people in the room, said Flynn repeatedly interrupted the briefers until Christie intervened, according to the report. One source said Christie reportedly told Flynn to shut up, while the other reported he said, "calm down." Other sources said Christie touched Flynn's arm to get him to stop.

Christie denied to NBC that he had silenced or restrained Flynn, saying he "did not make the statements alleged nor did I touch General Flynn's arm for any reason during the briefing."
