Mendham Cops: Teen and Passenger Had Drugs

The following information was provided by the Mendham Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A pair of teenagers were arrested and charged with drug offenses after a motor vehicle stop on May 29, said.

Alexandra Zimmerman of Morris Township was stopped by Patrolman Matthew Amrobosi after witnessing the 18-year-old perform an illegal U-turn on Mendham Road West near Ralston Hill Road, police said.

While speaking with Zimmerman and her passenger, 19-year-old Morris Plains resident Gabriela Rodriguez,  Ambrosi detected the odor of burnt marijuana from inside the vehicle, police said.

According to police, a consent search was granted and under 50 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located inside the vehicle. 

Both driver and passenger were arrested and charged Zimmerman and Rodriguez were arrested and charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia with a June 2012 court date at the Mendham Municipal Cour, police said.  Additionally, Zimmerman was charged with conducting an illegal u-turn and possession of controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, police said.
