Country's First Section Of 9/11 Memorial Trail Opening In Randolph
Morris County will be home to the country's first section of the 1,300 mile trail connecting 9/11 memorials.

RANDOLPH, NJ — The country's first section of the 1,300 mile-long September 11th National Memorial Trail will be unveiled this Sunday in Randolph.
The entrance to Patriot's Path will be home to the country's first trail marker (known as a blaze). It will be unveiled at a ceremony this Sunday at 10 a.m.
The trail, which is triangle shaped, will connect established and planned 9/11 memorial sites, including the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and Flight 93 Memorial. It will "serve as a symbol of resiliency and character," according to the trail's organizers. The project was established by the September 11th National Memorial Trail Alliance.

Morris County was chosen at the opening location due to "it's close cooperation with the national committee," and Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen's continued support of 9/11 related legislation, a county spokesman said.
In addition to connecting the memorials, the trail will run through over 50 other landmarks, such as the Eastern Continental Divide, Delaware Water Gap, and Morristown National Historical Park. It will be open to hikers, cars, and bikes.
