Criminal Trespassing, 3 DWI Incidents: Chester Police Blotter

Between the months of May and June, the Chester Township Police Department handled over 4,600 incidents, police said.

CHESTER, NJ — Officers from the Chester Township Police Department handled more than 4,600 incidents during the months of May and June.

According to police, there were 58 traffic accidents investigated. Officers responded to 118 calls requesting assistance from the First Aid Squad and 32 calls requesting assistance from the Fire Department.

Among the 19 official arrests were charges of shoplifting, defiant trespassing, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, criminal trespassing, DWI, obstruction of justice, final restraining order violation, and ATS, ACS, and NCIC warrants, police said.

According to police, the following were notable incidents in May and June:

On May 2, 2022, a motorist from Chester was arrested for DWI and later found to have a blood alcohol concentration of 0.20 percent, which is 0.12 percent higher than the legal limit of 0.08 percent. The subject was charged with DWI, issued additional motor vehicle summonses, and released to a sober adult with a court appearance in municipal court scheduled.

On May 3, 2022, while investigating a trespassing complaint, CPD officers apprehended a male subject from Parsippany on a no-bail warrant out of East Orange. The subject was discovered to be in possession of suspected LSD and related narcotics paraphernalia while in custody. The subject was charged with controlled dangerous substance possession, drug paraphernalia possession, and defiant trespassing and turned over to the East Orange Police Department.

On May 10, 2022, while investigating a trespassing complaint, CPD Officers apprehended a male subject from Chester, charged him with criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct, and released him with a pending appearance in Morris County Superior Court.

On May 25, 2022, while investigating a suspicious vehicle in a closed park after dark, a male subject from Providence, RI was arrested for a final restraining order violation. He was charged with contempt violation of a judicial order and was taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility.

During a traffic stop on June 16, 2022, both the driver, a female from Newark, and the passenger, a male from Irvington, were discovered to have active ATS warrants. Both parties were released from the scene after receiving new court dates for their warrants.

On June 21, 2022, CPD Officers apprehended a male subject from Allentown, PA while investigating an anonymous tip about an active NCIC warrant. He was later moved to the Ocean County Sheriff's Office Transport Team.

On June 24, 2022, a Newton motorist was arrested for driving while intoxicated and later found to have a blood alcohol concentration of 0.20 percent, which is 0.12 percent higher than the legal limit of 0.08 percent. The subject was charged with DWI, issued additional motor vehicle summonses, and released to a sober adult with a court appearance in municipal court scheduled.

On June 24, 2022, a motorist from Long Valley was arrested for DWI and later found to have a blood alcohol concentration of 0.17 percent, which is 0.09 percent higher than the legal limit of 0.08 percent. The subject was charged with DWI, issued additional motor vehicle summonses, and released to a sober adult with a court appearance in municipal court scheduled.
