Family of Toddler Killed in Alstede Farm Crash Asking For Witnesses' Help

The family and friends of Elizabeth “Ella” Fuehring, the two-year-old girl killed in a motor vehicle crash at Alstede Farm in Chester Township on Oct. 12, is asking anyone who was at the tragic scene to come forward with information.

In a press release given to Patch on behalf of the family, the Fuehrings are asking for any additional information, photographs, or videos from witnesses who were at Alstede Farms during the time of the tragedy.

Since the week following the crash, the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, which is handling the investigation, has not released any more information and says the investigation is continuing.

Fuehring and her mother, older brother, and family friends were crossing between two shuttle buses on a particularly busy day at the Chester attraction, when one of the vehicles backed up into the other, pinning the pedestrians between them.

Elizabeth Fuehring died as a result, and her mother, Sarah, suffered a broken femur which required surgery.

Alstede Farms has come under fire in recent years because of how many customers it attracts, causing hours and miles of traffic delays in the sleepy northwestern New Jersey town on fall weekends.

The weekend of the tragedy coincided with the Columbus Day holiday, admitted by owner Kurt Alstede to be the busiest of the year, as well as the town’s Harvest Festival.
