Father of Toddler Killed at Alstede Farms: 'I Lost a Piece of Me'

Donation page launches to help family with funeral costs; child's mother sustained broken femur, website says.

Elizabeth “Ella” Fuehring was happy, energetic, and adorable.

Those were the words her father, Kenny, used to describe her on his Facebook page hours after the 2-year-old was struck by a shuttle bus and killed at Alstede Farms in Chester Township Sunday afternoon.

“This afternoon, I lost a piece of me, my daughter Elizabeth. She was happy, energetic, and adorable. She was way too young and innocent to go,” the post said.

A statement on the fundraising page reads:

“Elizabeth was taken from us far sooner than she should have been. At just 2 1/2 years old Ella was enjoying a day out at the farm when tragedy struck and she was hit by a shuttle bus along with her mother and a few friends. She passed instantly & her mother Sarah Fuehring was rushed into surgery with a broken femur.

The Fuehring family is heartbroken and doesn’t need the extra burden of scrapping together funds for funeral expenses. Any donation is greatly appreciated. Please help us give Elizabeth the funeral she deserves.”

The page was created just after midnight on Monday, Oct. 13 and has established a fundraising goal of $7,000. As of 11:40 a.m., it had already reached $1,730 in donations.

Capped with a heart-shaped emoticon, Fuehring’s Facebook post concludes by saying, “I love you baby girl..”
