Global Entry Interviews Coming To Mendham: How To Apply

MENDHAM TOWNSHIP, NJ — Morris County residents looking to enroll in Global Entry will soon have a chance to complete a key part of the process without making a trip to an airport or other enrollment center.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection will conduct Global Entry interviews at Mendham Township Town Hall on Aug. 29, township officials said.

The interviews will take place at Town Hall, located at 2 West Main Street in Brookside, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Global Entry is a federal Trusted Traveler Program that provides expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers entering the United States. Membership also includes eligibility for TSA PreCheck benefits.

Residents cannot simply show up for an interview in Mendham Township, however.

Anyone interested must first apply for Global Entry through the Department of Homeland Security's Trusted Traveler Programs website. After U.S. Customs and Border Protection reviews the application and grants conditional approval, applicants can log back into their account and schedule an interview for the Aug. 29 Brookside location.

Appointments are required, and township officials said the limited slots are expected to fill quickly. Applicants should bring a valid passport and other required identification documents to their interview.

The Global Entry application carries a $120 nonrefundable fee, and an approved membership is valid for five years. CBP says most applications are reviewed within two weeks, although some can take 12 months or longer.

Applicants must undergo a background check and complete an in-person interview before receiving first-time Global Entry membership.

Minors under 18 may have their application fee waived when a parent or legal guardian is already enrolled in Global Entry or has a pending application, according to CBP. Applicants under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian present for their interview.
