Hail, High Winds Hit In 'Severe' New Jersey Storms: More Than 10,000 Without Power [VIDEO]
The National Weather Service says mid-day storms could produce small hail and gusty winds.
More than 10,000 were without power Wednesday as mid-day thunderstorms hit New Jersey, producing hail and gusty winds.
Police departments said there were numerous reports of trees falling on wires, blocking roads in Cinnaminson, South Brunswick and other New Jersey towns.
There were also reports of a power outage at Six Flags Great Adventure.

Lightning struck a home in Basking Ridge causing it catch on fire, police reported around 2 p.m. Wednesday.
The fast-moving storm swept through Ocean County shortly after noon Wednesday and knocked out power to a few thousands residents as the storm brought down trees with strong winds and lightning.

The First Energy outage map for the Jersey Central Power & Light coverage area showed pockets of power outages in Toms River and Brick, with the largest being about 1,500 customers along Princeton Avenue. JCP&L was estimating roughly 3,000 customers in Ocean County without power as of 2 p.m.
Wednesday afternoon's storm caused numerous trees to fall across Cinnaminson streets.

According to a National Weather Service alert, some showers and thunderstorms "around the midday hours" were to produce locally gusty winds and hail.
The Weather Channel, in a special statement, said a line of "strong" storms was heading through Pennsylvania and should hit New Jersey.
A "Severe Thunderstorm Warning" was issued for most of New Jersey particularly in parts of Cape May, Somerset, Middlesex, Hunterdon, Ocean, Gloucester, Atlantic, Union, Burlington and Mercer counties.
Wind gusts of up to 40 mph are possible, along with pea-size hail, Weather.com says. "If you see lightning or hear thunder, move indoors."
