Man Burglarized Mendham Twp Home: Police

Police say the man, who was arrested on July 12, is not a suspect in a July 17 burglary.

MENDHAM TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Budd Lake man is accused of burglarizing a Mendham Township home on July 12, police said.

David Hughes, 37, was arrested and charged with burglary, theft, possession of burglary tools, possession of drugs, possession of hypodermic needles, and two motor vehicle summonses in connection to the burglary. Police say they were called to a Washington Valley Road at 4 p.m. for a burglary in progress, and found Hughes leaving through the back door.

According to police, Hughs had stolen property and burglary tools. He was taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility, and has been released with an upcoming court date.

Police do not believe this burglary was connected to the July 17 burglary, which remains under investigation.
